Killiecrankie

History

Killiecrankie’s wooded river gorge is where one of the goriest battles in Jacobite history took place. On 27th July 1689, the first shots in the Battle of Killiecrankie were fired. You can explore the Soldier’s Leap, which is the spot where a Redcoat solider leapt 18ft across the River Garry, fleeing the Jacobites. Find out more about the history and wildlife at the visitor centre – a 5 minute walk from our lodges.
